From my past, a year ago. (And probably other times in my life, too. How many of you can think of people who’ve said something similar? Seriously, enough with the passive-aggressive demands! We’re not puppets.) Note: this is NOT directed at photographers (looking at you, Ted, darling!), for whom it is absolutely reasonable to be expected to smile. 🙂
😯 Someone actually said that to you? Did he live to tell about it?
There is nothing better than a smile from someone when you have done something nice… no other reward is necessary. Or maybe you just got together and they are glad to see you.
LOL! Yeah, it was a guy I dated last summer, for about 4 months. I didn’t even remember that he used to say that, until I read a magazine article which highlighted the phrase, and I was like, “Whoa!” It always made me feel weird when he said it. (It was a clue which I should’ve combined with about a hundred other pieces, but – you know – “dating blinders.”)
Agreed – a spontaneous, real smile is its own, magnificent reward. 🙂
This is one of my pet peeves. I always stand back and shake my head when its all a guy has to resort to
Makes you wonder if it’s bad manners or narcissism in those types of people. But it’s nice to know there are still a few of you good guys out there, Sam!
You have to work to build a repertoire…it doesn’t just happen, for real dudes. Step it up!
