What you need to know about me:

I’m a 49 year-old mom, divorced since June 2014, and I’m navigating the singles-waters. Badly, at times. But I’m learning a lot about myself as I go. I’m also a writer, though not published – yet. πŸ˜‰

  1. So can I ask, why mouse? I like the name a lot! I’m divorced almost a year and 51. He left in 2014 though so I feel like I’ve been ‘single’ for awhile now, but just now thinking of dating….I had to heal first. β™₯

    • Why, thank you, Janie – I don’t believe anyone has ever asked me that before. When I first started this blog in 2012 I was still married and used my real name. (I’ve gone back and either “sanitized” or hidden most of those posts, but I’m sure I didn’t get them all.) The name of my blog was something that popped into my head back then, and I went with it: I was 43, just starting to wake up, and I knew I had something to say. But I felt very small and was pretty sure people would tell me to just shush. I thought of “the mouse who roared,” and I wanted to be that brave. Hence, the name of my blog, and later, when I decided to become semi-anonymous, adopted the screen name I use today. You were smart to take your time healing. I jumped in feet-first, right away, and made some pretty bad choices. THEN I decided to take some healing time. (We mess up, we learn, we grow… It’s a process. πŸ˜‰ ) You and I are practically the same age, and have effectively been single for the same length of time. We’ll get there, SBS (single-blogger-sister) – like what you said earlier: we just have to believe! πŸ™‚

      • Oh I love the mouse that roared! You rock! Keep empowering yourself and others and let your voice be heard because it connects with us all to help us to learn and to be stronger. I just figured I’d ask about mouse because I thought it was cute but figured it had more to it than that – and it did! Thanks for sharing SBS! I do believe! β™₯
